And summer is almost upon us. In expectation of kinder weather conditions for the next few months Karori Cemetery Tours is raring to go, with a selection of touring possibilities and a new addition to the themed tour options.
There haven’t been many postings to this blog for some time, but I’ve been busy nevertheless, with visits to cemeteries in Auckland – Waikumete, Hillsborough, O'Neill's Point, Mt Victoria and Symonds Street, (see previous blog posting) and also with research and development of the new themed tour –
Disaster, Disease and Sleight of Hand.
This new offering, available for the first time this Labour Day Weekend, explores some of the stories of people buried in the Jewish section, the second Anglican section, and the first Catholic section. Included are children who died in one of the many diphtheria outbreaks which beset Wellington until our drainage systems were improved, an imperial forester, a magician, brothers who died in WW1, 1918 ‘flu victims, and yet more of those who were “accidentally killed” by some means or another.
And so much more, so email me karoricemeterytour@gmail.com or call me 021 065 3778 to make a booking asap.
