Next Wednesday, 11 November, is Armistice Day, the day when we stop and remember for 1-2 minutes at 11.00am, on the eleventh day of the eleventh month, the day when WW1 fighting finally stopped. The Services Section of Karori Cemetery had been started not many months before, when it was realised many men, and some women, who had signed up for service had died in the Wellington area and were being buried in new or family plots throughout the cemetery, rather than lying together with their comrades in one special place.
Come and learn about the development of the Services Section and spend time hearing about the experiences of a few who were buried "at home" rather than in distant lands.More information here.
