Many of us of a certain age remember the distinctive trill of Aunt Daisy’s voice as she began her morning radio session every week day. Along with the Edmonds Cook Book, the jar of Vegemite, the hokey pokey ice cream and the jandal, Aunt Daisy’s voice emanating across the radio waves was part of the NZ identity. You can visit her and a number of other trailblazing and interesting women who are interred in Karori Cemetery. During this themed tour you will encounter a selection of suffragists, educationalists, reformers and artists, as well as a few ordinary women who had extraordinary things happen in their lives.
Duration: 1.5 hours maximum, easy walking
Meeting place: Main Chapel - Rosehaugh Avenue. Parking available across the road. Alternative meeting place will be advised if the Chapel is in use.
Cost: $10 per person. Payment in cash at the start of the walk.
